Showcase: Target-Neiman Marcus Collection

Just when we thought the famed Target designer collaborations couldn’t get any better, Target announced their holiday partnership with Neiman Marcus. It’s a well-rounded collection, featuring clothes and accessories for everyone, home décor, and gifts aplenty. These six things are my picks from the bunch, separated into two lists – things to give to friends and hostesses alike, and things to treat yourself to this holiday season (the collection goes live tomorrow).

To Give

cookie cutters

1. Band of Outsider Cookie Cutters: Probably the cutest, quirkiest, most original cookie cutters I’ve ever seen – sure to be a hit with anyone who loves to bake.

dessert plates

2. Tracy Reese Dessert Plates: Perfect for the classy hostess (they’re trimmed with 18K gold).

metallic pouches

3. Marc Jacobs Pouches: No one would be disappointed if they found this multi-funtional metallic leather clutch/cosmetic pouch under the tree. No one.

To Get

lace top

4. Lela Rose Lace Top: So gorgeous and feminine, it could easily transition from dressy to casual and pair with everything in your closet. For bonus points, pair with one of the aforementioned pouches.

studded gloves

5. Brian Atwood Studded Gloves: The classic opera glove suddenly became un-stuffy. Perfect for all black-tie events this holiday season (or for days when you just feel like playing dress-up).

piped blazer

6. Thom Browne Blazer: The most perfectly classic blazer ever. This piped wool one will take you well into the early months of spring.

Currently Obsessed With: Printed Pants

patterned pants

I have to say, the printed pants trend is growing on me. I used to shudder a little when I saw legs clad in hip-to-foot pattern, but I’ve come to embrace the non-traditional denim as an alternative to printed skirts. I don’t have any pairs myself (colored I do have, just not patterned), but I think I’ll add some to my collection come springtime (polka dots, anyone?). Although, I couldn’t help but notice how many fabulous pairs I was finding as I browsed a few websites. See my favorites above.

Infinity and Beyond

scarves

The scarf – perhaps the epitome of fall/winter style, it adds a cozy, casual vibe to anything you pair it with. I don’t wear them nearly as often as I’d like to (even though I have quite the collection), and I think I’m going to start (keep your eyes out). Despite my abundance of scarves, from infinity to regular to silk, I couldn’t help but fall in love with these as I browsed the internet.

Vintage Feel

Forever 21 Top, Forever 21 Skirt, Born Shoes via DSW

Whenever I wear this outfit, it seems to generate a lot of compliments, from both friends and strangers alike (specifically a nice lady working at Sephora). There’s something I like about the almost southwestern feel of denim paired with a bold orange pattern. The faded shirt and worn-in oxfords gave it a bit of a vintage feel. This skirt is from last year and it continues to be a favorite – the cut is both flattering and comfortable, but sadly, I have a bit of trouble finding tops to pair with the rusty hue. Until I find a few more, I’m perfectly happy to keep wearing it with my chambray shirt.

Trend Spotting: Quirk Factor

quirk factor

This year, many designers embraced quirkiness. (We’re talking shoes with full facial profiles on the sides. These even feature a ponytail.) There were surrealist-inspired accessories and animal-sporting sweaters. As seen in this post, I’ve developed a new-found appreciation for the quirky (and animal-printed), so here’s my tribute to all things unusual in the fashion world.
