Blog Spot

I’ve never had the urge to put a blogroll on my site – why send people to other blogs as soon as they get to yours? – but since it’s Web Week here at sarah kate style (if you’ll let me use alliteration and call it that), I’d like to give a shout-out to some of my favorite blogs.

c&c

1.Cupcakes and Cashmere: Okay, so everyone reads this blog. But Emily’s blog is definitely the one that inspired me to make my own. I don’t think I’ve ever disliked any of her outfits, and everything she makes looks so. darn. good. I would trade my closet for her’s any day.

2. Cheetah is the New Black: I so admire Alicia’s style – she’s completely mastered the whole edgy-cool look. Plus, I completely hated wedge sneakers (and still dislike most pairs) until I saw her wear those Isabel Marant ones.

3. Atlantic-Pacific: There are a lot of days when I wish I was Blair – she looks fabulous in everything she wears, and everything she wears is fabulous. I don’t know if I could ever pull off the look above, but a girl can dream, right?

4. Ladies in Navy: I just love how Kelsey styles things – and the fact that she re-wears pieces, something that I don’t always see in other bloggers. Plus, just like Emily of C&C, her food posts always make me hungry.

5. Gal Meets Glam: How adorable is Julia? Besides the fact that I love every one of her outfits, I love her writing, her perspective, and her mission of everyday glam.

6. Luella & June: Can we talk about how obsessed I am with Bradley’s blog? Besides the fact that I adore her website design and “about” page (seriously considering stealing that idea), I love her style, her collages, her writing, the insanely awesome and stylish things she finds – and I totally can’t wait to see wedding photos.

What are some of your favorite fashion blogs? If you write a fashion blog, leave a link in the comments and I’ll be sure to check it out!

Matchbook Magazine

You may or may not have noticed, but I did quite a bit of sprucing up on the blog this weekend. My parents always say “How hard could it be?” when it comes to seemingly intimidating tasks, and I’ve adopted their same philosophy – so I’m obviously DIY-ing the blog (at least for now). One addition to the site that I’d like to mention is the new Tumblr button on the sidebar – I’ve been working on my Tumblr for a while, but kept forgetting to mention it here on the blog.

Because I’ve spent so much time on the internet recently, I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite things on the web this week – from my favorite blogs to a few web design tips and tricks and internet freebies.

I’ve been a devoted Matchbook reader for a year now, and I’m guessing (read: hoping) all of you know about it – otherwise, you’ve been missing out big time. For those of you who don’t know, Matchbook is an online magazine chock full of fabulous inspiration, book and movie suggestions, interesting mini-biographies, and features on lots of people, places, and things – all in a superbly classy fashion. It’s safe to say one of my biggest goals in life is to be a Matchbook girl – described in bits and pieces in the beginning of every one of their issues, and also here. But there’s more to Matchbook, too – they have a newly re-designed site with an incredible blog, a copious list of their favorite shops, a boutique where they collect all the items found in their issues and the links to where to buy them, and – my personal favorite – their checklists. I’m currently working on novels and movies (it was kind of a wake-up call to me that I needed to start reading more again when I saw that I’ve seen about half of the movies and read not nearly as many of the books), and I think I’ll start on this one come fall. Be sure to check it all out here!
