Showcase: Altuzarra for Target

showcase_altuzarrafortarget

All, Target

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know that I always get way over-excited about the Target designer collaborations (here’s looking at you, Peter Pilotto and Philip Lim). I’ve yet to encounter one that I dislike, and the latest – Altuzarra, if you haven’t heard – might be my favorite yet. Any piece would fit in perfectly with my existing fall wardrobe…because come fall, all I wear is neutrals (yes, burgundy is a neutral too). This collection is a great mixture of texture and color, of basics and prints, of chic and relaxed. I’ve pulled all of my favorites from the collection – from the quirky crane-embroidered sweater, to the classic-with-a-twist snakeskin pencil skirt, to the elegant orchid maxi dress (I do love a good maxi).

Are you a fan of the collection? What’s your favorite piece?

Classic Stripes

Zara top, Forever 21 jacket, H&M jeans, BCBGeneration shoes, 3.1 Philip Lim for Target purse, Baublebar earrings (in tortoise here), Target sunglasses

This is actually what I wore on my flight back to the US – the most comfortable items of clothing I brought just so happened to look casually put-together. This top I picked up at Zara for the equivalent of about $17, and it’s so comfortable that I’ve been living in it since. It’s one of those pieces that makes me love summer fashion, and will make it harder to say goodbye to.

Beet and Goat Cheese Salad

beet3

This isn’t a picture-heavy post, but that’s because this is so simple there aren’t really that many steps to take pictures of. Beets have been my latest food obsession – I’ve always loved them, but I only recently started buying them raw at the store and roasting them myself (using these totally foolproof instructions). Their silky texture, rich color and sweet-meets-earthy flavor contrasts beautifully with the sharp, tangy notes of goat cheese…but goat cheese is just awesome anyway. I ate way too much when I was assembling this.

For the salad:
-Baby spinach
-1 small roasted beet
-about 1/4 cup of goat cheese (just kind of tear off little chunks until you’re happy with the beet to goat cheese ratio)
-a handful of walnuts

For the dressing:
-Plain Greek yogurt
-fresh mint, finely chopped
-vegetable oil
-lemon juice
-white wine vinegar
-sugar and salt, to taste
*Note: when I make salad dressings, I never measure anything. I just throw stuff in a bowl, taste, adjust, and repeat, until it tastes how I want it. This dressing should be creamy and tangy with a kick of mint.

Neon Pants

pants1

H&M top (old, similar here), Peter Pilotto for Target pants (I also love these and these), L.L. Bean backpack (old, similar here), DSW Sandals (old, similar here).

I have a love-hate relationship with pants. I always find myself drawn to pairs with fun prints or interesting details, but I tend to prefer the comfort and ease of dressed and skirts. This pair, though, combines the best of both: they’re bright and unique while still being lightweight and extremely comfortable. They’ve been my go-to pants so far this summer – paired with a solid t-shirt, it’s a stylish and completely un-fussy look.
