Trend Spotting: Rose-Colored Glasses

red

This season, the color red was huge – particularly in the dress department. While a solid red dress is almost always appropriate when it’s time to dress up, looking like a tube of lipstick every day is maybe more than a bit too much. Instead, try mixing pops of red into a neutral outfit to make an impact – above are some of my latest cherry-hued finds.

Accessory Spy

accessoriesOne of my favorite things when it comes to fashion is a nice piece of statement jewelry. Spring brought with it the statement earring trend (which I am still fully embracing), but a chunky cuff bracelet or classic statement necklace still packs the same punch. I was very happy to see this fall that statement accessories are still in, and very abundant at that. Here are my top picks for the coming months. A big bonus? Everything is under $30!

Dress from H&M, TOMS shoes, Vintage Necklace

Happy Wednesday! I kind of love having a holiday on Monday because it makes the rest of the week feel like it goes by so much quicker. That being said, my shortened week is a lot busier than I’d like, so my outfits have been low-key. This dress is so versatile – I’m running around a lot so I opted for casual TOMS, but I’ve dressed it up many times before for dinner with stilettos and jewels. It works nicely as a sundress on warmer days, but a sweater in any coordinating color transitions it into the cooler months.

Desk Inspiration

desk inspiration

Whether I’m creating a new wardrobe or re-designing a room, I love to make inspiration boards. It helps me to see what I like, and generally the things I find are similar enough that with a little weeding, I can come up with a cohesive collection. For my office renovation, I knew I wanted to stick to the modern, graphic feel of my new glossy-white furniture, but I decided to throw in some vintage- and retro-inspired accessories to keep it from feeling too cold. I was attracted to simple black and white with a splash of bright red in clean, modern lines. The alphabet poster gives the space an intellectual vibe while the Dalmatian fabric (to be used on boxes and pencil cups) is pure whimsy.
