Simplement Chic

H&M Top, Kohl’s Skirt, Baublebar Necklace, Sandals via DSW (old, similar here), Henri Bendel Ring

I recently took a trip to some gorgeous gardens for a picnic, which was the perfect way to close out the season. This top, which I obsessed over here, came in the mail a little bit ago and I couldn’t be happier with it – it’s amazingly comfortable and it obviously goes with everything. I love pairing it with my new necklace for a pop of color, but I can’t wait to wear it with other neutrals (namely burgundy corduroys and a military jacket) come fall. My favorite aspect of it is its versatility – the graphic makes it a little more special than your average white tee, and it works equally as well with distressed jeans as it does with a floaty floral skirt.

Lilac & Stripes

Forever 21 Jeans (similar here), Land’s End Top (old, similar here), Sperry Topsider Shoes (same style here), Vintage Necklace

Something about colored denim is so refreshing. It’s easy to wear and can switch up the entire look of an outfit in an instant. I had never really considered lilac denim until I tried on a pair a while back. I was reminded of this post on Cupcakes & Cashmere and decided a pair could add a twist to some of my most-worn basics, like this striped top.lilac and stripes 1lilac and stripes 3lilac and stripes 4

Dotted Denim

Kohl’s Top, NY&Co Jeans, Mix No. 6 Sandals via DSW

Given my love of chambray and polka dots, I figured it was time to buy a – you guessed it – polka-dotted chambray top. It’s just as versatile as a plain chambray shirt, and so soft I want to wear it as pajamas. I can’t wait to pair it with other colored denim as the weather gets warmer (coral and mint, anyone?). I haven’t stepped into a Kohl’s in years, but it was worth the trip to find this gem.

Spring Stripes

Forever 21 Dress, H&M Sweater, Aerosoles Sandals (old), Kohl’s ring (old, similar here), Kate Spade Bracelet (similar here and here)

The moment I saw this dress online, I fell in love. It reminds me of lots of things Kate Spade has sold that I’m not able to afford, so when I saw it carried a Forever 21 price tag, I snatched it up. The fabric is thick and high-quality, which was a nice surprise. The fit is also surprisingly comfortable and flattering. I love stripes, but these bold, graphic, brightly colored ones have taken that love to a new level.

Pumpkin & Pattern

Forever 21 Top, Forever 2 Pants (similar here, here and here), Born Shoes via DSW (similar here), Vintage Necklaces

These pants, believe it or not, are my first patterned pair, and I couldn’t be happier with them. They’re made of a silky fabric, are loose enough to be comfortable but not look baggy, and feature a pattern that’s entirely different from everything in my closet. I bought these with cool spring mornings in mind, but I started to get impatient with the weather, so I figured the orangeish/coral color in the crests was ambiguous enough to be paired with pumpkin and still look nice.
