Target Shirt, Forever 21 Sweater, NY&Company Jeans, Rocket Dog via DSW Flats, NY&Company Necklace

I may have lied a bit in my last post, but I promise my schedule is officially cleared now – in October I had a considerable amount of work to do, from books to read to places to go to a Halloween party to plan and then host, not to mention a hurricane in the midst of all of that – but now I finally have a chance to get back into the habit of posting.

I’ve always loved the idea of wearing a classic button-up under a sweater, but haven’t had the right sweater to pull off the look until now. I liked this easy alternative to my usual lazy outfit of a button up, cropped jeans and oxfords – it adds an extra element to the mix, while providing another layer of warmth for these chilly transition-into-winter months.

Top: H&M (old), Skirt: H&M, Shoes: Born via DSW

I apologize for having been gone so long – I’ve had a pretty hectic schedule lately! I promise I’m back now, though. This skirt has been my obsession since I first saw it in H&M a month back. I was immediately drawn to the stripes of bunnies in various poses, but later discovered that it features a bow at the paper-bag waist and roomy pockets, three factors that, when added with the adorable print, had me running to the cash register.

Shades of Gray

Tank: New York & Company, Sweater: H&M, Skirt: Forever 21, Boots: UGG Australia, Necklace: Vintage

Today I played with darker colors – namely black, gray and navy blue. I’ve been dying to wear this ($10!!) skirt since it arrived in the mail. It’s a nice, thick material, and it’s wonderfully comfortable and versatile.

Camel & Cream

camel 1

New York and Company Tank, Forever 21 Jacket, Land’s End Canvas Skirt, Boots from DSW

My two favorite colors for fall are by far burgundy and camel, which is fortunate because they pair so nicely together. During the fall, I wear this skirt constantly – it’s a deep, purpleish-brown burgundy, which pairs with much more than I originally anticipated a year ago when I got it. Not to mention, it has nice, deep pockets (my favorite quality in a skirt) and it’s made from the the softest corduroy I’ve ever felt.

Some of my recent obsessions this fall have been lace and moto jackets, so you can imagine my elation when I found this one at Forever 21. The fact that the roomy sleeves don’t have a lining make it ideal for throwing over an outfit for some coverage, and the lacy cutouts can display a long sleeved shirt worn underneath.

Double Denim

Forever 21 Shirt, Old Navy Tank, New York & Company Jeans, Boots from DSW, Vintage Necklace

I used to think that wearing denim with denim was the ultimate fashion crime – but when the two washes are as different as these, it’s perfectly acceptable (and très chic). The white tank helps to break up the monochromatic color scheme.
