I’ve got spring fever. I’ve actually had it for a while (winter just will not end) but I feel like I can say it now that it’s officially spring. I can’t wait for bare feet, warmer temperatures, colors besides black…and you can probably tell from above that I can’t decide between brights and pastels. As much as I love neutrals, I really need a change. Here are all the colorful things for the new season that I’ve been coveting…(p.s. – seriously obsessed with the eye dress from Zara. Seriously.)

We all have trying weeks sometimes – those weeks that are stressful, with a never-ending to do list and personal problems to spare. That’s how the whole month of February went for me, and it was topped off with never-ending snowstorms, too many late nights, and a close friend moving away (not too far, luckily). In times like these, I find it’s appropriate to do little shopping to cheer myself up – not to mention the fact that I’m dying for spring to come and couldn’t resist the pretty new collections coming in at Zara and H&M (and of course, the Peter Pilotto collection at Target). Spring is still a while away (as evidenced by the ongoing polar vortex here on the East Coast), but I’m hopeful for the coming season and plan to tide myself over until then with clothes to wear when it comes.

Shirt/Skirt/Shoes/Necklace/Ring/Socks

Since yesterday was the unofficial end of summer, it feels a lot like back-to-school. I can’t wait for fall this year, but the feeling of freedom that leaves with summer always makes me a little reluctant to accept the coming season. I always get over the end-of-summer blues by focusing on all of the new clothes I’ll be wearing soon – fall is my favorite season when it comes to fashion. One pattern that I’ve been considering recently is plaid: it always makes me think of cute (and often not-so-cute) school uniforms. I’ve had a serious aversion to the print ever since a phase in my much younger years when I wore flannel shirts, but my serious obsession with this skirt has made me rethink my prior distaste for it. I’m huge on navy and black once there’s a nip in the air, so I decided to pair a neutral plaid shirt with a short, flirty skirt that gets some edge from a faux-leather trim. Tall gray socks keep the look grounded and cozy, while seriously shiny oxfords make a statement and add some fun. Some classic jewels top off the look.

Showcase: H&M Paris Show Collection

Cape/Sweater/Dress/Dress/Jacket/Jacket

I am completely in love with H&M’s Paris show collection, and so happy that it’s available to buy online. How chic are these clothes? These are just a few of my favorites, but there’s a whole crop of shoes, clothes and accessories that are swoon-worthy. I’m particularly fond of the metallic embellishments and art deco-inspired detailing, as well as the wide array of textures – chiffon, velvet, wool, satin, leather…the whole collection is incredibly chic and fantastically well-rounded. I’m planning on snatching up this number and wearing it to every event of the coming season.

Breaking News: H&M is Online!

Cardigan/Skirt/Pants/Corduroys/Socks/Boots

Perhaps my favorite of all stores is H&M: they offer edgy, high-fashion looks and standby basics (I’m a huge fan of their leggings) at a fantastic price, and the quality is usually pretty decent for the price. One thing, though, that constantly irked me was the fact that my favorite pieces from their website were almost never at my local store, and that I could never access their so-called “Online Exclusives” and drool-worthy designer collabs because they didn’t offer online shopping in the U.S. Well, my friends, that has all changed. Today, as I carried out my daily hm.com visit, I was greeted by an enormous banner announcing that online shopping has arrived! (I might have screamed) Needless to say my shopping bag has filled up at an astonishing rate – here’s a few of my picks from their fall collection.
