Silver Sequins

Nordstrom Rack Top (similar here), Urban Outfitters Corduroys, H&M Blazer (similar here), Steve Madden Boots, Gifted Watch

When I wore this the other day, one of my friends commented that this is the brightest thing I’ve worn in months – and sadly, that’s probably true (as I said here, most of my outfits lately tend to be pretty dark). I hardly got the chance to wear my sequin dress (seen here – the one from H&M) this holiday season (okay, I wore it twice), so when I saw this top at Nordstrom Rack, I snatched it up so I could prolong the sequin-wearing season. I like the variety it adds to my closet, and it easily makes a statement without being too flashy.

Tied Up

Forever 21 Top (similar here), Urban Outfitters Jeans, Rocket Dog Flats (old, similar here)

When I first saw this shirt, it reminded me of something that Blair Waldorf might wear (you should know that I’m kind of obsessed with Gossip Girl) – classy (black and white button-up) but with a twist (the bow at the neck). I think it will work nicely well into spring months: it’s pretty light and it has 3/4 length sleeves. I can see it paired with polka dot shorts or a bright skirt, but until it gets warmer, I’m perfectly content to wear it with black jeans and flats.

Vintage Feel

Forever 21 Top, Forever 21 Skirt, Born Shoes via DSW

Whenever I wear this outfit, it seems to generate a lot of compliments, from both friends and strangers alike (specifically a nice lady working at Sephora). There’s something I like about the almost southwestern feel of denim paired with a bold orange pattern. The faded shirt and worn-in oxfords gave it a bit of a vintage feel. This skirt is from last year and it continues to be a favorite – the cut is both flattering and comfortable, but sadly, I have a bit of trouble finding tops to pair with the rusty hue. Until I find a few more, I’m perfectly happy to keep wearing it with my chambray shirt.

Minimal

Land’s End Shirt, Vintage Vest, H&M Leggings, Forever 21 Earrings, UGG Australia Boots

Lately, I’ve been opting for simpler outfits in neutral shades of black, white and gray. I wore this a week or so back on an especially busy day when I craved a low-maintenance outfit. I kept it polished by heading in a more minimalist direction, staying with clean lines and varying textures.

Cozy Cowl

H&M Dress, Forever 21 Belt, DSW Boots, Coldwater Creek Bracelet (old), Vintage Ring

I think I’ve officially reached my limit on cowl necks with this dress. It’s my third dress with one and fifth overall, but for some reason it doesn’t feel like that many. There’s something about them that I just love – they look put together in a slightly messy, layered way, while being exceptionally warm and season-appropriate (kind of like a built-in scarf). That leads me to something else special about them: you really can only wear them in the fall and winter months. So I think I’ll enjoy them while I can, and ignore the fact that I may be developing a problem.
