Dress

I’m trying to get back into the swing of blogging – I’ve been away for so long and I’m starting to realize just how much I miss it. I figured I’d officially start of the new year sharing my latest obsession with you: this dress. H&M has started introducing spring clothes and I couldn’t be happier with seeing loads of pastels and bright whites after living in black and grey for the last few months. This dress in particular caught my eye, and it reminds me a little of Downton Abbey (maybe I’m just getting excited over season four) – but obviously modernized with the shorter hemline. It’s that big, intricate, romantic lace yoke that gets me. I’ll admit I spent a good long time (read: an hour) deciding between black and white. I could use an LBD, but I hadn’t indulged in my white dress obsession in a while so I went for that one. I can’t wait to wear it with bare feet and dainty earrings once the weather gets warmer, but until then I’ll be content to wear it with tights and combat boots.

Double Take

Sweater

Casual: Cords/Shoes/Cuff

Chic: Skirt/Heels/Clutch

This season, embellished sweaters and sweatshirts were all over the place, and for good reason – besides being amazingly comfortable, they’re remarkably versatile. In the casual outfit, the sweater acts like a basic, paired with charcoal cords, with shiny burgundy oxfords and a tortoiseshell cuff to add a little low-key elegance. In the second look, a full, knee-length skirt makes the sweater a little dressy but lets it remain the focus of the outfit, while glittery heels and a metallic clutch play up the embellishments on the sweater.
