Blogger Chat: Nathalie of Lifes Files

One of the things I really love about blogging is how it connects you to other people all over the world – I know just about every blogger will say that, but I’ve experienced it firsthand. Nathalie has become one of my best blogging friends, and she’s such a lovely person with an awesome (newly-redone!) blog and an impeccable sense of style. To celebrate her new blog, Lifes Files, I asked Nathalie to answer a few questions so you could all get to know her (and because who doesn’t love Q&As?!).

Summer To Do List

summer to do list 2

I always have really high expectations for the summer months – and they’re always at least mostly met. Last summer, though, was probably my favorite to date (with the 2 week trip overseas), which makes it pretty hard to top. So, since June is here and the start of summer is right around the corner, I came up with a little list of things I hope to do this summer – some chores I’ve been avoiding, others are more fun – to make sure that I get the most out of the season.

1. Read 15 books.(read 10) 2. Binge watch a new series.(Game of Thrones!) 3. Clean and organize my office. (finally did this!) 4. Start meditating. (it’s not yet a habit, but I’m getting better at it) 5. Actually start a little scrapbook-journal-photo album. (nope) 6. Gather inspiration in one place. (how is it that I couldn’t do the easiest ones?!) 7. Exercise at least 3 times a week. (I got up to 4-5 times a week!) 8. Find an awesome new dessert to make. (coconut cornmeal cake – recipe here9. See a play and go somewhere for live music. (saw two Shakespeare plays and went to a small picnic + concert while on vacation) 10. Learn conversational Swedish. (well, I knew I wouldn’t be as far along as I’d like, but I’m getting better! still trying to make studying a daily habit)

Last-Minute Sandal Stock-Up

I have an almost absurd amount of sandals. Flats, platforms, strappy, simple, neutral, bright – you name it, I probably have a pair (and yet, I find myself wearing Birkenstocks more often than not).Since the season of high temperatures and vacations is just around the corner (for most of us), I thought it was only appropriate to share some of my summer shoe picks in case you haven’t stocked up yet, or are in need of a new pair for the season. I’m a sucker for Birks, especially this gorgeous coral pair – but I’m also in love with the sporty-luxe vibe of these sandals.

What’s your favorite pair? Do you prefer brights or neutrals?

Bright Maxi Dress

H&M Dress // Vintage clutch // Steve Madden sandals // kate spade ring

Like last week, this is another sort-of boring/simple outfit, but that’s because I think this dress looks pretty good on its own. I tend not to wear a bunch of jangly bracelets or layers of necklaces, instead sticking to the statement accessory here and there and wearing clothes that speak for themselves (yikes that sounds cheesy) – like patterned pants, a graphic tee, or, in this case, a bright orange maxi dress. Hooray for comfort and ease!

(Also – some of the pictures may make me look it, but I promise you I’m not translucent.)
